Run a Google Security Checkup, Get 2GB Free Drive Storage

Google and Microsoft are running cloud storage giveaways for Drive and OneDrive, respectively.
How would you like earn some extra Google Drive storage for free, and make sure your Google accounts are protected in the process? Now you can.
In honor of Tuesdays' Safer Internet Day, Google announced it is giving away 2GB of free Drive storage to anyone who completes its Security Checkup. The checkup takes about two minutes and ensures that your account recovery information is current, lets you review your recent sign-in activity, and monitor the list of apps and devices that access your account information.
If you like, you can use the opportunity to remove any apps that don't need access to your account anymore.
"While everything stored in Drive is always encrypted in transit and at rest in Google's custom-built data centers, this checkup ensures you're making the most of the 24/7 protection you already get from Google," Drive Group Product Manager Alex Vogenthaler wrote in a blog post. "It takes just a couple of minutes and, unlike other checkups, it won't leave you feeling guilty about not flossing."
You'll need to complete the checkup by Feb. 17 to get the 2GB bump in your Google Drive storage plan. Best of all — once you nab the freebie, it's yours permanently.
After you've successfully completed the checkup, you'll see three green checkboxes confirming you're eligible for free storage. Google said it will be granting the storage automatically to everyone around Feb. 28, and will send you an email when your adjustment is complete.
"Ideally, you'll revisit this checkup every so often or anytime your account changes, like when you get a new phone or replace an old laptop," Vogenthaler wrote.

Meanwhile, those who prefer Microsoft's OneDrive can nab even more free storage. Redmond is giving away a generous 100GB of free OneDrive cloud storage for two years to any U.S. resident who signs up for a Bing Rewards account, CNET reported. Sign up on Bing.com, go to the Bing Rewards dashboard, and you'll see the option to redeem your free 100GB. The only catch — you must agree to receive promotional OneDrive emails to take advantage of this offer.
