Game maker King today launched a new reason to ignore your family and friends: Candy Crush Soda Saga.
The sister title to everyone's favorite time waster, Candy Crush Soda Saga is set in the familiar Candy Kingdom, but boasts new graphics, games modes, candy combinations, and gameplay mechanisms.
Designed to be played alongside the original game, this installation promises fresh challenges for even those players who've managed to fight their way to the end of the original Candy Crush Saga.
"Our long-term strategy is to develop global game franchises which are loved by millions of players around the world," Sebastian Knutsson, chief creative officer at King, said in a statement. "Candy Crush Soda Saga offers fans new gameplay features and challenges to delight in, and has been designed to complement the original title, which we believe players will also continue to enjoy."

Whether taking on the saga alone or with friends, players can join Kimmy on her mouth-watering journey to find Tiffi in the same style of the original, both of which are free to play, with the option to purchase in-game extras.
In the new version, users must match the bottles with their colored counterparts to raise the soda level, dodging obstacles along the way.
Available initially only through Facebook, the new game is set to launch on mobile devices in the coming weeks.
Despite its game's enormous popularity, developer King—creator of other "Saga" games like Pet Rescue, Farm Heroes, Papa Bear, and Bubble Witch—has had its share of drama. In April, the company officially resolved trademark disputes with Stoic Studio, makers of The Banner Saga, and Albert Ransom, developer of the similarly themed puzzle game CandySwipe.
The dispute was over the Dublin-based company's ownership of a trademark for the word "saga" as it relates to video games, in addition to its filing for a trademark of the word "candy," which the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office approved in January.
But efforts to cash in on Candy Crush's popularity via an IPO has had limited success.
