Changing the size of Desktop icons
Windows XP
1. Right click on the desktop and select 'Properties' from the drop-down menu displayed.
2. The 'Display Properties' dialog box should then appear. Select the 'Appearance' tab and click 'Effects'.
3. Select the 'Use Large Icons' option and then click OK.
4. To adjust the size of the desktop icons and font, click the 'Advanced options' under the Appearance tab.
5. Using the Item drop-down menu, select the 'Icon' option.
6. From here the user can increase or decrease the size of the icon as well as change the size and font of the text. Once the icon size and fonts have been formatted and selected, click OK.
Note: This method only effects icon-sets that Windows holds dominion over. That is, the size of personally created and many web-based icons will remain unchanged after the above steps are taken, and these can only be increased or decreased by using 3rd-party software available for download.
Window Vista/7
1. Go to your desktop and minimize any programs running.
2. Hold the CTRL key and move your mouse scroller forward and backward and the size of your desktop icons will change.
Another way to change your icons to Windows-predetermined sizes is to right-click on your desktop, select "View" and then choose 'Large Icons', 'Medium Icons', or 'Small Icons'.
Windows 8
1. Right-click the desktop, point to 'View', and then click 'Large icons', 'Medium icons', or 'Small icons'.
Note: You can also use the scroll wheel on your mouse to resize desktop icons. On the desktop, press and hold Ctrl while you scroll the wheel to make icons larger or smaller.
